People in the wood

23.08.2011. TeAm 2 , Zoltan Dezseny, Joel Feltz, Johanna Jachs, Elza Puktite

What will a group of curious, young people from all over Europe do in the Finnish countryside for 6 days? Actually they do not know exactly. They have a car, some maps, instructions and were told to get lost sometime and find the right route again...

The story started in Helsinki on the 22nd August when all the people from 14 or some European countries arrived. They applyied some weeks ago to participate in an event called "Amaze me LEADER" - International Youth LEADER adventure organized in Finland. The program is designed about the European Union LEADER program, the Finnish countryside, some adventure and rural development in general. That was all they knew when they registered and not much more.

This is the second day of the event, I am sitting somewhere in the heart of the endless Finnish forest, to be more correct I am sitting in the computer room of the Saarijärvi Highschool and telling the beginning of the story to you, my Dear Reader. Tomorrow we may make some music in cooperation of an phylharmonic orchestra at a local festival and  the day after go for the election to be the major of the next town. OR maybe not, we will definitely see...

Joel

Hello everybody, my name is Joel, I´m 19 years old and I come from Luxembourg. Luxembourg is a small country in the west of europe. Luxembourg has a population about 500.000 peoples. 4 Weeks ago, my friend asks me if I have ever been in Finnland. I told him:"No, I have never been there before". He told me about a project in Finnland with 14 other countries. My first reaction was:"Oh yeah, cool. Why not?" And now, I am sitting here in the Saarijärvi Highschool and I am writing you something about me, my country and the project. Now you are asking yourself...WHICH PROJECT?? The project is calling: "Amaze me Leader". A project where 14 countries were participated. More then 15 teams, with 3-4 people in each team. Every team got a car, some maps, instructions about the country. Thats all ;)

WhoopWhoop! :)

I am Johanna, 19 years old and I am an Austrian. I just tasted an typical finish food - OMG! It tasted... hmm... nice.. ;) The biggest differences between Austria (beside the language) and Finland are, that we don´t have sooo much forests, we have real mountains (up to 3000m) and we definitely have tastier sweets compared to "Salmiakki". Just a few words about the language: I definitely don´t understand anything. Well, no... I have to admitt that that´s not true.. I just recognized that i do understand one thing: heyhey! :)

BEST REGARDS!

Hey guys! I am Elza from Latvia! It has been great so far here and it will get more interesting further... It is all about enjoing the things that are given to you! So that is actually the first thing you learn in this adventure - you have people you haven´t ever seen before, you are in a place you probably haven´t been ever before and you never know where the talking NOKIA-GPS will take you! And that is the best part - you don´t have planned future and you never know what kind of wonderful opportunities will show up after the next corner. As yesterday evening - NOKIA died - battery was empty - and we had to drive last 30-40 km by our own senses put together and we did it! Even without getting lost! While some followed GPS and end up somewhere - middle of nowhere. That´s the SPIRIT of adventures! Think POSITIVE and remember - THERE ARE NO BORDERS FOR YOUR DREAMS! :) :) :)
